National Adoption Week
Adopting a furry friend is one of the best things we can do for shelter animals, but it works both ways. When I came to an adoption event many years ago, I was running late and they were already packing up. Leo’s foster mother was sitting at a table, finishing paperwork with Leo draped over her shoulder. I asked if I could hold him, and the rest is history. Leo gazed deeply into my eyes and started purring while rubbing chins with me. If there had been a thought bubble above his head, it would have said: ‘About time you got here. Let’s go home.’ And that was it. He has been providing constructive feedback whenever services aren’t up to standards, but he hasn’t fired me yet. To hear him say it, his human is a work in progress, but not a lost cause.
Leo, giving important feedback.
